Men’s boxers (and custom sheath hack)
Husband wanted to try Sheath boxers however their price range are pretty crazy. I was challenged to recreate them based off of pictures – and I think I did ok!
My Hack
Extra Pattern Pieces
Cut out two extra copies of the front piece (have three in total)
Ball Pouch
Take one of the extra fronts and measure 5.5cm from the notch. Mark across and cut.
Measure the top and work out 90% of that measurement. This is the length of FOE needed.
Penis Pouch
For the penis pouch, lay the ball pouch over the last extra piece and mark the top seam as a guideline.
Fold in half. Measure 1.5cm up from the guideline. This is the top of the ring. Measure 2.5cm from the left side. This is the ring’s radius. Draw and cut.
Cutting
Cut all pieces relevant to the original pattern (no fly option) plus the ball and penis pouch. Also cut one 6” of FOE and one of the previously measured FOE needed.
Sewing
Ball Pouch
Using the ball pouch piece, sew the previously measured FOE along the top seam using your preferred method (I forgot to picture my after picture).
Penis Pouch
Fold the 6” of FOE in half, sew right sides together to make a ring. Trim the seam allowance into a triangle.
Mark the opposite edge from the seam. Find the top and bottom of the penis piece ring and mark.
Pin in place wrong sides together using the marks as a guide.
Sew in place using a basting stitch (longest stitch).
Fold the elastic over to the right side and stitch in place using a zigzag stitch.
Take note how low the ball pouch should sit to ensure it’s level against the penis pouch. Pin the ball pouch to the penis pouch. Tack.
Place this ball/penis pouch on top of the front piece as shown.
You will now treat this as one piece throughout the remaining sewing process. Be sure to double check the right/wrong sides before sewing onto the main body pieces!
